Callum Hudson-Odoi: Marcos Alonso urges Bayern Munich target to stay at Chelsea
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been urged to stay at Chelsea by team-mate Marcos Alonso amid interest from Bayern Munich.
The exciting teenager is being linked with a £35million move to the Bundesliga giants after struggling for game time at Stamford Bridge – though he has started the last two cup games, including the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg defeat at Tottenham.
Although Bayern are regarded as one of the heavyweights of European football, Alonso feels Chelsea can match them if they Hudson-Odoi is prepared to be patient and wait for his chance.
“He is a good player, but he is very young,” he said. “He needs to have patience and to be hungry and fight for a place in this team.
“That is all he needs to do, he has all the conditions to be a great player, now it is up to him to fight for a place here or try to find more minutes somewhere else.
“Bayern Munich? We are Chelsea, another great team, the Premier League is the most competitive league in the world, I don’t know why someone would go to Bayern Munich.”
Hudson-Odoi reportedly sees his future at Bayern, however he will be encouraged by Maurizio Sarri’s recent comments about his ability.
On his performance against Spurs, Sarri said: “He is improving, in the last match he played very well and also today I think a very good match.
“He played like a player of 25 or 26 years, I think – very good match of application, very good in the defensive phase, very, very good.
“He was completely normal in this period. I don’t know, maybe he doesn’t read anything.”
