Chelsea transfers: Alvaro Morata ‘close’ to Sevilla move, but deal will dent Blues’ chances of signing Gonzalo Higuain – reports
Alvaro Morata is close to sealing a return to LaLiga with Sevilla, according to reports.
However, Chelsea risk missing out on AC Milan star Gonzalo Higuaín if the move does go through.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri appears to have finally lost patience with the inconsistent striker, despite his double against Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The £58million Spain international has also been linked with a move to Serie A giants Milan but, according to Tuttosport, Sevilla is his most likely destination.
If a move to the San Siro had happened, it seems as though the Rossonieri were willing to allow the Argentine striker to move to Stamford Bridge in a trade.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Milan are unsure about signing Higuain permanently from Juventus and want Chelsea to take the 31-year-old off their hands.
Milan have an option to buy the former Real Madrid striker, but his return of six goals in Serie A is cause for concern.
Higuain and Sarri worked together at Napoli, but it seems as though the Italian will have to wait until the summer if a reunion is going to happen.
Without a replacement centre-forward lined up, it seems Gennaro Gattuso is unlikely to sanction the sale of the striker.
