'I need to check with my agent!' – Diop intrigued by talk of £50m PSG move

The highly-rated defender only joined the Hammers in the summer window, but he is already sparking rumours of interest from Ligue 1 heavyweights

West Ham defender Issa Diop claims to be unaware of where reports linking him with Paris Saint-Germain have come from, but has joked that he may need to check with his agent.

The highly-rated French centre-half only completed a move to the London Stadium over the summer.

A club-record £22 million ($29m) deal saw him link up with the Hammers, with Mauricio Pellegrini acquiring the 21-year-old from Toulouse.

He has taken in just 12 appearances since then, but is already being linked with another big-money move.

Ligue 1 champions PSG are said to be keen on taking Diop back to his homeland after a brief adventure in London as part of a £50m ($65m) package.

He is, however, tied to a five-year contract and claims to be paying little attention to transfer talk which is starting to build ahead of the winter window.

Diop told beIN Sports: “Honestly, I know nothing about a PSG winter move.

“I learned the information like you did, I saw them via social media.

“Perhaps my agent knows more, I need to check with him! I am very good with West Ham right now. I am enjoying getting to know the Premier League each weekend.”

Diop made his debut for Toulouse at just 18 years of age and took in 85 appearances for the club over three seasons.

It was his efforts during those outings which sparked interest from afar, with West Ham one of several clubs to have been linked with his services before a deal was done.

He has slotted seamlessly into the fold at the London Stadium and has impressed in new surroundings.

The Hammers will be eager to ensure that they remain the ones to benefit from Diop’s ongoing development, but they may need to fend off some enticing offers in order to retain a prized asset.
