Jurgen Klopp’s shocking FA Cup record as Liverpool manager continues – he’s never made it past the fourth round

Jurgen Klopp’s poor record in the FA Cup with Liverpool continued on Monday as his side were dumped out of the competition by Wolves.

The Reds may have got through to the Champions League final last season and currently top the Premier League, but he has not enjoyed the same success in the domestic cup.

In four attempts, the German has never made it past the fourth round. His current record stands at three wins, three draws and four defeats.

Here is his season by season record in the competition.

2016 – Fourth Round

Liverpool were held 2-2 by Exeter City in Devon after Klopp’s gamble of playing a youthful side did not pay off.

The replay was more regulation at Anfield with the Reds winning 3-0.

They were agains forced into a replay in the fourth round when they drew 0-0 with West Ham at home and in the second match the Hammers grabbed a 121st minute winner through Angelo Ogbonna to send Liverpool home.

2017 – Fourth Round

A case of déjà vu for Jurgen Klopp the following year as he again struggled to get past lower league opposition in the third round only to be knocked out in the fourth.

Plymouth Argyle drew with Liverpool at Anfield to take the replay down to Devon.

It took Lucas Leiva’s first goal in seven years to knock the League Two side out of the competition but they were then dumped out by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

2018 – Fourth Round

Last year’s competition started so well for Jurgen Klopp. New signing Virgil van Dijk scored on debut for the club to knock out rivals Everton in the third round.

It would again be a fourth round exit for Liverpool as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at home to West Brom. A Jay Rodriguez double saw their dreams end for another season.

2019 – Third Round

Ruben Neves scored a wonder goal to keep that poor Liverpool record going.

A weakened side, with a number of youngsters in it, lost 2-1 at Molineux despite winning 2-0 at the same ground just a few weeks earlier in the league.
