Manchester United manager latest: Players want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hired as permanent boss

Manchester United’s players reported want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to remain in charge on a permanent basis.

Solskjaer was named interim boss last month following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho and has won all of his five matches since then.

The club kept their first clean sheet in the Premier league with him against Newcastle United, before repeating the feat in the 2-0 FA Cup defeat of Reading – United’s most recent match.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino remains favourite to take charge of Man United on a permanent basis, the Mirror report, but United players would be pleased if Solskjaer was handed the job full-time.

The man-management style of the Norwegian is in contrast to the assertive approach from Mourinho, which caused a number of rifts and left the players disillusioned at the type of football they were being asked to play.

The likes of Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford have enjoyed a new lease of life and are benefiting from the confidence given to them by Solskjaer.

The Old Trafford legend has taken his players for a warm-weather training break in Dubai to get them prepared for their next league game, which will be played at Tottenham on January 13.
