Paul Pogba was left out of Manchester United’s training camp to Dubai after picking up a knock against Newcastle United.
The France international missed the Red Devils’ FA Cup victory over Reading on Saturday afternoon and will fly out to Dubai later this week.
Pogba was caught by a rash challenge from Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey on Wednesday so was given time to recover by interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The four-day trip to the United Arab Emirates is designed to give the United squad adequate time to prepare and rejuvenate ahead of a crucial clash at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The 25-year-old, who will make the trip on his own later, was spotted walking his dog through the park on Sunday morning. However, the club were quick to assure fans there was nothing more sinister behind his absence.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Paul Pogba has not completely recovered from the knock he sustained against Newcastle and stayed back for treatment.
“But he will join his Manchester United team-mates in Dubai soon in preparation for the Tottenham game.
“The midfielder has been in impressive form of late and claimed the Player of the Month award for December, as voted for by fans, after registering four goals and four assists.”
Fred, Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian and Sergio Romero also did not board the flight from Manchester Airport.
