Premier League footballer kicked out of nightclub after allegedly taking cocaine at Christmas party

A Premier League footballer was kicked out of a nightclub after allegedly taking cocaine in a toilet.

As a result, the Football Association have launched an investigation.

A teammate of the England footballer exclusively told The Sun he apparently saw his colleague ‘doing a line’ in the toilet of the club.

And fellow teammates were reportedly left stunned when the star emerged from the toilets looking worse-for-wear after ingesting the Class A drug.

The manager of the unnamed club reportedly ordered the out-of-control star to leave the venue out of a back entrance, believing he had just drunk too much.

A club insider said: “Everyone is talking about it.

“It wasn’t the club’s official Christmas party but a few drinks after a game and many of the players and manager were there.

“One of the players saw him doing a line in the toilets then half an hour later he was all over the place. His jaw was working overtime and he was a mess.

“He wasn’t just drunk. The gaffer was furious and got him out the back door and into a taxi thinking he had drunk too much.”

According to various sources, the subject had provided clean samples to drug testers the day before, knowing he could take cocaine without it being detected in his system.

The drug can stay in blood samples for up to 24 hours and, once players have been tested, there is no chance they can best tested again for at least a few days.

Other squad members are said to be shocked and a rift has developed in the dressing room.

The insider added: “There’s been turmoil in the dressing room most of the season and this hasn’t helped.

“Results haven’t been fantastic so it’s the worst possible timing. The drug testers had visited the day before so he knew he could get away with it.”

Latest figures show UK Anti-Doping collected more than 5,000 samples from players during the 2017/18 season. This included 1,923 from the Premier League – a large increase on the 1,171 samples from the previous campaign.

There were 1,109 tests taken from players in the Championship, 638 in League One and 610 in League Two.
