Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Real Madrid ‘make contact with Christian Eriksen’ as Los Blancos plot £100m deal
Christian Eriksen is wanted by Real Madrid who hope to land the Tottenham midfielder in a £100million deal, according to reports.
The current European Champions are desperate to overhaul their squad in the summer, having struggled this season following the departures of both Zinedine Zidane, the manager, and star player Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to the Independent, Real want to secure a major summer signing, being either Eriksen or Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
It is claimed contact has already been made between Eriksen’s representatives and people working for Real over a potential £100million deal – though Los Blancos chiefs hope to lower the price.
Eriksen is stalling on a new deal with Spurs, despite the club being willing to offer him around £200,000 to £250,000 a week, as it is understood the player’s concerns are not financial.
Barcelona had been interested in the Denmark international, but instead purchased Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool last year.
Real Madrid and Tottenham have history when it comes to the transfer of players, with the La Liga giants buying Luka Modric in 2012 and Gareth Bale the following season.
The 26-year-old former Ajax star has become one of most complete midfielders in the world since going to Spurs back in 2014.
He has made 250 appearances for the club and scored 62 times.
