Tottenham transfer news: Spurs linked with January move for Wolves right-back Matt Doherty

Tottenham are interested in signing Wolves full-back Matt Doherty, according to reports.

The wing-back has been an ever-present for the West Midlands side this season, featuring in every league game of their impressive return to the Premier League.

Doherty has been in great form this term, particularly as an attacking outlet, having notched up three goals and four assists to help them into 9th position after 21 matches.

Spurs’ talent-spotters have liked what they have seen from the Ireland international and, according to the Irish Independent, they are ready to table an offer for him.

The north London side already have Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier in that position but could be willing to pounce before Doherty signs a new deal at Molineux.

The 26-year-old is currently on a £20k-a-week contract but could double his wages with an improved deal that is expected to be offered in the coming weeks.

Only a sizeable offer from Tottenham is likely to succeed, as the player is reportedly happy and enjoying his football with Wolves.
