PHOTOS: Downtown Atlanta Transformed For Super Bowl LIII

ATLANTA –The eyes of the global sporting world are now squarely on Atlanta, after Sunday’s two thrilling overtime NFL conference championship games, when the Los Angeles Rams will face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Rams defeated the New Orleans Saints, archrival of the Atlanta Falcons, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome by a final score of 26-23. Later on Sunday, the Patriots, who defeated the Falcons in Super Bowl LI after trailing 28-3, beat the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, 37-31.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium and other downtown venues and sites are now adorned with the Super Bowl LIII logo. Road closures also began Monday in downtown and midtown Atlanta, as a host of events are set to begin ahead of Super Bowl Sunday. City leaders insist Atlanta is ready for what is arguably the world’s biggest sporting event, though the federal government continues to be partially shut down, fueling concerns of long lines at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
