Andrei Voronkov replaced Alekno as a head coach of Russia

This crucial decision was made today after a special meeting of the authorities of Russian volleyball.

Russian Volleyball Federation chose Andrei Voronko as a new head coach of the Russian national team. Voronkov is about to combine his work with the club in Novosibirsk (with whom he won the last edition the Champions League) and with national team.

Two other candidates for this position were Jurij Cherednik and Sergei Schlapnikov.

Vladimir Alekno stepped down a few months ago after the biggest success of his career – winning gold medal of the Olympics in London.
