•Top Stories of the Week

A trio of NXT wrestlers made a lot of news outside the usual confines of Full Sail this week.  Fabian Achner is the new Evolve Champion after he defeated Shane Strickland at the Evolve 114 show in Ybor City, Fla.  Earlier that same night, The Street Profits answered Boom Patrol’s open tag title challenge and defeated them to become Evolve’s new tag team champions.

The Queen of Spades Shayna Baszler became the first-ever two-time NXT Women’s Championship when she defeated Kairi Sane at Evolution.  Baszler benefited from outside interference from former UFC stablemates Jessamyn Dukes and Marina Shafir.

The card for WarGames is almost complete with three matches confirmed this week.  Check out the updated card with confirmed matches below.  I have to believe we’ll get Kairi Sane’s rematch and “The King of Bros” Matt Riddle added at some point, especially after this confrontation https://www.prowrestling.com/watch-kassius-ohno-confronts-new-wwe-nxt-signings-keith-lee-matt-riddle/.

•NXT in the media

Fantastic column in The Undisputed this week on future NXT Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.  The EST of NXT delves into her youth, her young career, and how she came up with her nickname. “I’m the fastest, I’m the quickest, I’m the strongest,” and above all else, she says, “I feel like I am the best athlete on the roster.”

Newly crowned two-time NXT Women’s Championship sat down for a Q&A with The National to discuss her transition from MMA to NXT and what a potential showdown with fellow four horsewoman Rhonda Rousey might look like.  “I don’t think it will be any different if her and I do meet up, out of respect for each other, and it would be gnarly.”

•Thoughts and Comments

There is just something off with Kairi Sane’s character.  I, personally, was never really behind the “Pirate Princess” gimmick but it seems the WWE fanbase isn’t either.  She 100 percent received the smallest reaction from the Evolution crowd last weekend and, after losing the NXT Women’s Championship to Shayna Baszler, I’m left wondering where she goes from here.

It’s awesome to see the Street Profits getting some much deserved love by winning the Evolve Tag Team Championship last week.  I was reminded during their match with TM61 this week how damn athletic and entertaining this duo could be.  The NXT tag team division is stacked at the moment, but I think once some of the teams get called up within the next year or so…… it might be time for the Street Profits to shine.

Nikki Cross’s entrance music is amazing. The crazy laughter added to the Sanity entrance is absolutely perfect.  Speaking of which… where is Sanity?  Good thing WWE called them up to the main roster… to not be on TV for a month.

The two minute video package at the beginning of this weeks NXT TV episode detailing the Aleister Black assault/investigation/aftermath was top notch stuff (as usual).
