In a less than 24-hour period, two mass shootings claimed 29 lives. Twenty people were killed Saturday at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart in an attack authorities are investigating as a hate crime against Hispanics. Nine people were killed early Sunday morning in Dayton, Ohio. Authorities have not determined a motive in that shooting.

In a Monday morning tweet, Trump said stronger gun background checks should be tied with “desperately needed immigration reform.

“We must have something good, if not GREAT, come out of these two tragic events!” he tweeted.
