AJ Lee Not Coming Back to WWE, Change to All In Match, Lana News
Perhaps one of the women most responsible is shaping the women’s division in WWE into what it is today is AJ Lee. Lee won the Diva’s Championship on several different occasions during her time with the company and had plenty of memorable matches and moments as well. With Smackdown now set to move to the Fox network next year, rumors suggesting that AJ Lee could make a surprise return to WWE have been reported recently. However, during PWInsider’s Elite Audio show, it was revealed that Lee will not be coming back to WWE. AJ Lee’s initial retirements due to physical injuries has been cited as the most likely reason why she will not be returning to the ring any time soon.
A major match for the All In event in September was confirmed a few weeks back when it was announced that Cody Rhodes will be facing Nick Aldis for the NWA Championship. Several different promotions will be represented during the huge All In show set to take place in Chicago later this year, and NWA will be one of those promotions. However, it looks like there may be a slight change that will eventually be made to the planned match between Rhodes and Aldis. During Ring of Honor’s Honor United tour in the United Kingdom, Cody Rhodes vowed to win the ROH World Championship and then put it on the line in his match against Aldis on September 1st in a huge title for title match.
One superstar who has reemerged on WWE programming in recent weeks has been Lana. “The Ravishing Russian” has seemingly realigned herself with Rusev on Smackdown, and she will even be participating in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match at the upcoming pay-per-view of the same name. During the Backstage in WWE podcast, it was noted that Lana’s sudden push is all because Vince McMahon is a fan of hers. Vince reportedly knows that she is not a strong worker in the ring, but he believes that she is a valuable onscreen personality, which may be one reason why she has started working with Rusev and Aiden English as part of the Rusev Day team on Smackdown.
