Rumored Undertaker vs. John Cena match should be the WrestleMania 34 main event
John Cena is one of the few big names that The Undertaker hasn’t faced at WrestleMania. A match between the two icons of wrestling at the grandest stage of them all has been teased many times. They were scheduled to have a match at WrestleMania 32 but Cena suffered a shoulder injury, so The Undertaker faced Shane McMahon in a Hell in Cell match instead.
The Undertaker vs. John Cena at a WrestleMania is something that most of the WWE Universe has anticipated for years and is time they make this dream match a reality.
Will it be the main event?
Besides the Cena vs. Undertaker rumored clash, WWE has supposedly planned Roman Reigns against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship for almost a year and their Chairman Vince McMahon wants it to close the event because in his mind that’s the biggest match… but he’s dead wrong.
With Undertaker vs. Cena being a first at WrestleMania, it makes perfect sense for it to be the last match. Last year, Cena was again set to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 but Vince McMahon changed his mind because he wanted Roman Reigns, his new favorite star, to have the honor of beating The Undertaker. This year the match against Cena will likely happen at last and making it the main event is almost inevitable. Bovada will have odds, review them.
The Undertaker’s legendary career spans almost three decades. He’s been a part of countless pivotal storylines and unforgettable matches in WWE and he’s one of the most respected names in all of wrestling. He’s also been involved in memorable and defining moments while achieving pretty much all there is to achieve in wrestling.
Sadly, the end of the road is near and not many expect him to keep wrestling after WrestleMania 34. Rumors of his retirement started after WrestleMania 30 when his streak ended against Brock Lesnar and many thought he would hang his boots after last year’s loss to Roman Reigns, as he left his trademark hat and jacket in the ring, but he returned on the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw in January, delivering a promo that left the door open for a return. Still, he should have his final match at WrestleMania 34 and retire.
Last year’s match against Reigns was bad, sure, Reigns might not have been the ideal opponent but you could also tell that The Undertaker didn’t have much left in the tank. Supposedly The Deadman is in great shape this year and there’s no better man to fight him in his last match than John Cena, the face of the company for over 15 years.
Undertaker vs. Cena will be a great match. If The Undertaker shows up in shape, he can perform at his best against someone like Cena, a man that can put great matches against anyone. If it happens, it can be among the candidates for match of the year. Both men can perform plenty of power moves and have many near-falls to make it a truly once in a lifetime main event of WrestleMania.
Roman Reigns has already had consecutive main events, going up against Brock Lesnar, Triple H and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31, 32 and 33 respectively and fans are not excited about seeing him close the show again.
Reigns vs. Lesnar should be a co-main event but the Undertaker vs. Cena match should close the show and be the end of Taker’s legendary career. The Undertaker and John Cena are the biggest active stars in the whole roster and they’re more than deserving of the honor, which would also give the fans a lasting memory.
