Vikings up to 13th in national rankings; three individuals ranked

EDMOND, Okla. – Augustana moved up one more spot and is ranked 13th in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Top 20 poll. The Vikings received 45 points in this edition of the rankings and are one of four schools from the NSIC ranked in the top 20.

Nebraska-Kearney maintained its top ranking for the third straight poll of the 2012-13 season. Newberry (S.C.) was just one point shy of Kearney in the poll and is ranked second, followed by Central Oklahoma, St. Cloud State and Upper Iowa.

Minnesota State, the fourth NSIC school listed in this week’s poll, is ranked ninth.

In the individual rankings, Nate Herda moved from fourth to fifth at 149 pounds. Herda is 12-3 on the season, with his only losses coming against Division I opponents.

Jayd Docken, who is 8-3 on the season, remained at the fifth spot at 197 pounds while sophomore Jeremiah Peterson moved from eighth to seventh at 133 pounds. Peterson owns an 11-6 record on the season.

Augustana is set to dual Concordia-Moorhead, who is ranked 12th in NCAA Division III, on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Moorhead, Minn. before opening the conference season at the University of Mary at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
