NDSU Wrestling Ranked No. 24 Nationally

FARGO, N.D. – For the first time in the school’s Division I era, the North Dakota State wrestling team is ranked among the top 25 programs in the nation. The Bison came in at No. 24 in the latest USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.

NDSU knocked off Boise State, the nation’s previous No. 24-ranked team, with a 24-15 dual victory in the Bison Sports Arena on Nov. 16.

“This is an exciting day for our program,” said North Dakota State head coach Roger Kish. “With the decorated history we already have here at NDSU, this reflects the continued growth and development of Bison wrestling.”

“It’s nice to get some national recognition, but I know our guys have their sights set higher than this. It’s going to be an exciting season.”

In addition, the Bison have three individuals ranked among the top 20 wrestlers in the nation in their respective weight classes. Senior Trent Sprenkle is rated No. 6 at 125 pounds, junior Steven Monk is No. 8 at 165 pounds, and senior Mac Stoll is No. 17 at 184 pounds.

North Dakota State hosts the Bison Quad on Saturday, Nov. 24, starting at 1 p.m. Top-ranked Minnesota, Eastern Michigan and Itasca Community College will all wrestle duals with NDSU in the Bison Sports Arena.
