Hickenlooper on WH run with Kasich: 'You never know'

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) did not completely rule out the idea he could run on a White House ticket with Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R).

“I don’t think Kasich would ever do that. … You never know. You never say,” Hickenlooper said during a Playbook Exchange event, when asked if he would ever run for the White House with Kasich.

“He’s an easy person to work with. He’s strongly opinionated. And quick to his opinion.”

Hickenlooper praised Kasich for his knowledge on the federal budget and healthcare.

“He also knows as much about the federal budget, and understands healthcare at a deeper level, than almost any other governor I know,” he said.

“I don’t think it’s in the cards. But I do like the idea of working with him in some context at some point.”

“That’s not the Cory Gardner I thought I knew,” he said.

When asked about whether he would consider running against Gardner, Hickenlooper said he isn’t “ruling anything out.”
