According to Jericho, he spoke with “a certain head of a certain wrestling company” about a potential Intercontinental Champion vs. Intercontinental Champion match involving himself and Seth Rollins.
“I’ve got something for you,” he recalled when pitching the idea. “Boffo box office. I said what do you think about Intercontinental champion vs. Intercontinental champion: Jericho vs. Rollins?”
Jericho went on to elaborate, explaining that the idea was for himself to square off against Rollins with his IWGP Intercontinental Title on the line against Rollins’, which was prior to Rollins losing the title to Dolph Ziggler.
The idea was for the match to end in a disqualification, with Rollins next challenger from WWE making a run-in to set up their match at the next WWE event. He also mentioned he was willing to come in on the “go-home” episode of RAW to set up the angle and match at SummerSlam.
He said the idea got a decent response, but ultimately he never heard back from the company about pulling it off.
