Last night’s SmackDown on Fox averaged 2.072 million viewers in the fast national ratings.
Though that’s up 10 percent from last week’s near-record low overnight number, it’s still below what SmackDown has been doing for most of 2021 so far.
In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew the same 0.5 overnight rating as last week. That tied several other shows for second place on network television. In 18-34, SmackDown’s overnight rating was a 0.3 for the eighth straight week. That tied Shark Tank for top spot on the networks in that category.
Fox finished a distant fourth among the major networks in overall viewership last night. No other network fell below three million viewers.
A positive sign is that viewership grew throughout the show. Hour one averaged 2.038 million viewers and it climbed about three percent to 2.105 million in the second hour.
Year-over-year, SmackDown was down 16.8 percent in overnight viewership from the same week last year. It was down 28.6 percent in 18-49 and 40 percent in 18-34.
