Clermont are in no danger of losing their attacking edge

IT’S A NEW season in France, but no matter how often they get burned, it seems Clermont will keep giving us ridiculously exciting moves to drool over.

The people’s champions won 24 – 41 away to Oyonnax on Saturday and the final score was an absolute beaut.

Even though Clermont had already secured the bonus point victory with tries from Hosea Gear, Albert Vuli Vuli, Adrien Plante and David Strettle, they still insisted on attacking after winning a turnover after the clock turned red.

And what an attack. We clock it as 15 seconds from Fritz Lee’s turnover through lock Paul Jedrasiak’s sprint to when Alivereti Raka crosses the try-line. And everything in between was perfect.

Not perfect in a clinical sense. This is Clermont. Gear’s final pass took a tip from the defender before landing in Raka’s hands, but that all just ads to the thrill of the Bleu et Janue.
