Georginio Rutter to Leeds: €40m agreement reached with Hoffenheim

According to a report from L’Équipe, Leeds United have reached an agreement with Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim for the signature of French striker Georginio Rutter.

The 20-year-old has not yet missed a Bundesliga game this season for Der Blau, scoring twice and providing two assists for the club across 15 games as Hoffenheim sit in 11th place in the German top flight. Rutter had arrived in Baden-Württemberg in winter of 2021 from Rennes and quickly made an impact. Scoring eight goals last season in the process of becoming a first-team regular at the club.

The deal, to the tune of €40m including bonuses, makes Rutter Leeds’ most expensive signing after Brenden Aaronson’s move last July. It is also good business for Hoffenheim as the young Frenchman forward should become their second most expensive outgoing player ever after Joelinton’s €44m move to Newcastle in 2019 and tied with Roberto Firmino’s transfer to Liverpool in 2015.
