Jonathan Clauss “extremely” upset about missing out on France squad
RMC Sport report that Marseille wing-back Jonathan Clauss is particularly upset about missing out on Didier Deschamps’ 25-man squad to go to the World Cup, with the manager’s decision to move to a back four for the tournament ultimately costing him his place.
The former Lens man, who has been a constant fixture with Les Bleus since his first call-up back in March, was initially confident about his spot but began to have doubts the day before, when several media outlets began to report he was not a lock for the team.
A TV report by his side had been scheduled for the squad announcement, and was then cancelled on Wednesday morning, further sowing doubt in his mind. Nobody had called Clauss to let him know he would not make it, even if Deschamps and his team were aware he would be sad, but did not want to make an exception to their usual rule.

Marseille manager Igor Tudor and Clauss’ OM teammates have told him to keep his head up and concentrate on Marseille and show on the pitch why he should have been part of the squad.
