'Elite Mentality': Twitter Slams Woman Who Joked About House-Help Making WhatsApp Group To Plan Leaves

Classism is deep-rooted and still quite prevalent in India. And, we get many examples served of the same every day of our lives. The debate has once again been raked as recently a woman mocked a domestic worker over WhatsApp group.

The house-help, which the person in question referred to as ‘maid’, created the group for informing her employers about the leaves. The woman is now drawing flak on Twitter after ‘joking’ about it. While doing so would be nothing out of the ordinary for the regular employee, a domestic worker doing so being considered ‘funny’ has been drawing ire on Twitter.

Post drawing ire on the internet

Kosha, who goes by the username, @imkosha, on Twitter, wrote, “Our maid just made a WhatsApp group of all the houses she works at to update about her leave plans.” While this statement wasn’t even required to be penned on social media, the Twitter user went on to add crying and laughing emojis.

The Twitter thread sparked off by this tweet also came under fire for making similarly condescending ‘jokes’ about domestic workers.
