WTC: How Things Stand For The Teams

Pakistan’s loss to England in the second Test left the race for the WTC final all out in the open.

Australia at the moment are on top. The Aussies are almost assured of a place in the finals but at least 4 more sides are in contention.

A look at how each team stands as of now:

1. Australia

Australia face South Africa at home and India in the opposition’s den.

2. South Africa

They go up against Australia Down Under followed by one vs West Indies at home.
The away series against Australia will be crucial for both the sides. South Africa’s fast-bowling artillery will enjoy its time in pace-friendly Australia.

3. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka also have a mathematically chance to reach the final, other results also need to go in their favour. Their final assignment of the current WTC cycle is an away series in New Zealand.

4. India

India are currently playing Bangladesh in a 2-Test series. After that they face Australia in 4 Tests at home.

5. England

England are out of the race despite their recent good form.

6. Pakistan

Pakistan are out of the race end even winning all their remaining games will not be enough.

7. West Indies

Maximum points from all games left will still not help them.

8. New Zealand

Even if they clinch their remaining series the defending champions have no chance of finishing in the top 2.

9. Bangladesh

Not a good season so far and no wonder they went out of the race long back.
