Suspected Get-Away Driver In Shopping Center Shooting Arrested: LAPD

WEST HILLS, CA — A woman suspected of helping the Fallbrook Shopping Center shooter flee the scene has been arrested, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Monday.

Amy Waters, 33, was arrested on suspicion of felony evasion. According to police, she led police on a chase after allegedly picking up a man suspected of shooting four people Saturday in West Hills. The chase ended Saturday afternoon near Saticoy Street and Canoga Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police on Sunday announced the arrest of shooting suspect Mark Connole, 34. The Woodland Hills resident was booked on suspicion of murder at the LAPD’s Topanga- area station and was being held on $2 million bail.

According to detectives, met with and got into an altercation with a group of people at the Fallbrook Shopping Center and opened fire on them, wounding three and killing one person at the scene.

“One of the victims met with the suspect for unknown reasons. An argument ensued between the suspect and the victims when the suspect produced a handgun and began to fire at them,” police said.

Three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, Connole crashed his vehicle fled from the shooting scene, but Waters drove to the area in a red Honda and picked up the suspect. Waters then led police on a pursuit, but she eventually pulled over and was taken into custody along with Connole, according to the LAPD.

Police said a firearm was recovered.

Waters was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to jail records.

The name of the victim killed in the shooting was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Authorities asked anyone who was at the shopping center Saturday and witnessed the shooting to come forward, including anyone who captured cell phone video of the altercation that preceded the shooting.
