Kitten With Head Stuck In Truck Rescued In San Diego County
SAN DIEGO, CA — A kitten with its head stuck in the frame of a truck is safe, thanks to the San Diego Humane Society.
A truck driver told San Diego Humane Law Enforcement they heard meowing at a stop sign while on the road Monday. When the truck driver got home, they found an eight-week-old black-and-white kitten with her jaw stuck in a hole of the frame of the vehicle, according to the Humane Society.
The Humane Society’s veterinary team responded to the scene near state Route 78 and Centre City Parkway in Escondido, where they sedated the kitten and “patiently dislodged her head” using Q-tips, Humane Society spokesperson Nina Thompson said.

About two-and-a-half hours after first receiving the call, the kitten was freed and taken to Humane Society’s Escondido campus, Thompson told Patch. She was given food, fluids, warming, antibiotics and pain medication.
“We are so pleased this kitten came out safe and sound,” Thompson said. “Remarkably, she is doing very well.”

The kitten remains at the Escondido campus under a three-day stray hold.
“After the stray hold, if no owner has come forward, the kitten will be placed for adoption,” Thompson told Patch. “The finders have let us know that they are interested in possibly adopting.”
