Facing 2nd Expulsion Vote, 'I'd Be Shocked' Santos Survives: Ex-Aide
WASHINGTON, DC — George Santos’ tenure on Capitol Hill could soon be over. The embattled representative faces an expulsion vote when Congress returns from the Thanksgiving break.
It follows a scathing report by the House Ethics Committee that found Santos used campaign funds for personal items, including trips, shoes and Botox treatments.
“I would be shocked if he does survive this one,” Naysa Woomer, former Santos communications director, told Patch.

An expulsion vote at the start of November went in Santos’ favor before the ethics reports came to light.
Thereafter, Santos announced he would not seek re-election for the 3rd Congressional District. He also put out a tweet that he’ll hold a news conference on Nov. 30, leading to speculation that he could step down, “which is possible,” she said.

Although Woomer previously worked for Santos, much of what was in the House Ethics Committee report came as a surprise to her.
“He allegedly transferred campaign funds to a personal account so that he can go to Hermes and buy his beloved Ferragamo shoes,” Woomer said. “These are things you should never be doing.”
Gov. Hochul would set up a special election if Santos is thrown out of office or should he decide to resign. Woomer thinks a Republican has a chance to hold the seat.
“I’ve seen that Long Island Republicans are making great strides, not just flipping congressional seats, but also on the local level,” Woomer said. “So I’m not sure that it would really be all that detrimental.”
