United Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Tampa After Leaving Sarasota
TAMPA, FL — A United Airlines flight out of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport made an emergency landing at Tampa International Airport Wednesday afternoon.
Flight 2434 to Chicago departed at 3:42 p.m. and made its emergency stop in Tampa 53 minutes later at 4:35 p.m., according to FlightAware.com. The flight left Tampa at 6:11 p.m.
Tampa airport officials told WTSP that an open door indicator light came on ahead of the emergency landing.

Patch has reached out to the airline, which hasn’t confirmed the specific reason for the emergency landing.
“United flight 2434 diverted to Tampa as a precaution this afternoon to address a possible mechanical issue,” United Media Relations said in a statement provided to Patch. “The flight landed safely and we are making arrangements for our customers to complete their journeys at the earliest opportunity.”

There were 123 passengers and five crew members on the plane, an Airbus A319, the company said.

Emily Nipps, communications director at TIA, told Patch that United Airlines asked that all media inquiries go through them.
“I can tell you that the plane landed safely and … departed for its final destination,” she wrote in an email.
United Airlines has canceled all flights on the Boeing Co. 737 Max 9 aircraft, which was shut down when a door plug ejected from one of the planes during a Jan. 5 Alaska Airlines flight, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported.
Seven United flights were canceled to or from Tampa on Wednesday and another five will be canceled Thursday.
