Third Bridgeport Victim Dies In Crash That Killed 2 Children: CSP
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 25-year-old Bridgeport woman, who had been seriously injured in Sunday’s crash on Route 8 that killed two children, has also died, according to Connecticut State Police.
Andresa K. De Brito Alves, a passenger in one of the two vehicles in the crash, was pronounced dead at Waterbury Hospital on Monday.
Alves was the mother of the two children who were killed in the crash, 6-year-old Laura V. Alves Brito and 3-year-old Riquelme B. Alves Brito, the Connecticut Post reported.

According to state police, both vehicles in the crash, a 2021 Honda Civic and a 2023 Ford F-600 Super Duty, were traveling in the left lane, when the Ford rear-ended the Honda. The collision caused the two vehicles to smash into a concrete barrier off the left lane.
The two drivers, a 33-year-old Stratford man in the Honda and a 40-year-old Oxford man in the Ford, were both treated at St. Mary’s Hospital for injuries they suffered in the crash.

“All of the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident remain actively under investigation,” wrote state police in a statement. “This is all of the information available for release at this time.”
