Sheila Gordon, a licensed acupuncturist holding a master of science in oriental medicine, founded The Healing Space, at 81 Scudder Avenue, in 2003. Gordon offers acupuncture, fertility support, tuning fork therapy, LED therapy, facial rejuvenation, cupping, moxibustion, and more.
Recipients of The Chloe Belle Foundation, local to Long Island or those willing to travel, will be gifted an acupuncture session or sessions.

The Chloe Belle Foundation was founded by Remi Lindberg and her family in memory of Chloe Lindberg, a Northport resident who was only 26 when she died of acute myeloid leukemia in January 2021. She fought the cancer for 13 months after she was diagnosed at age 25.
Gordon said acupuncture sessions offer a sense of calm to anyone. It is proven to lower cortisol levels, calm the vagus nerve and increases endorphins — “the feel good hormone,” Gordon said.

With people fighting cancer or recovering from it, acupuncture benefits are heightened.
“In my practice the approach is to treat the whole person, the physical, emotional and spiritual,” Gordon told Patch. “People are often in shock with their diagnosis. My work is to treat that shock by calming the nervous system, and acupuncture is wonderful at addressing the side effects a person may experience while going through chemo: bloating, nausea, fatigue, brain fog, exhaustion, etc.”
The Chloe Belle Foundation currently helps 20 recipients, Lindberg said. The nonprofit continually works with hospitals in the metropolitan area where hundreds of people have received gifts from the foundation’s donors.
Gordon said there is support and healing available for cancer patients and she would like to offer them the benefits of a custom treatment. She begins her sessions with a prayer/intention, and her patient lets Gordon know what to focus on.
“The beauty of acupuncture is that we can address multiple issues at once,” she said.
The free acupuncture sessions were all Gordon’s idea, Lindberg said.
“Sheila is not only such a gifted practitioner but she is also so creative in thinking of unique ways to expand the offerings of her business,” she said. “Add in the fact that she is the most kind hearted, philanthropic and empathetic person I know and you get this partnership. On a friendship level, she has been so supportive of me in everything from day one. She goes above and beyond for all her friends. She is constantly thinking of ways for TCBF to expand and for all the ways she can help do that.”
Gordon said she is “amazed” at Lindberg’s commitment and dedication to helping others affected by cancer after she lost her sister and best friend in Chloe.
“Remi is an inspiration to others,” Gordon said. “Her ability to empathize and help others while healing from her loss is a true reminder of what it is to be a human. Service is the antidote to anxiety and pain, and Remi has found a way to help others through her pain.”
The Chloe Belle Foundation has organized several toy drives for children and young adults in the hospital, helped fund research at Southern Ocean Medical Center in New Jersey and raised money for other charities.
Lindberg said acupuncture with the inserted needles is recommended for children over the age of 8. For younger children, there are techniques that do not involve needles.
“Sheila’s presence and personal energy is calming,” Lindberg said. “I never felt as relaxed as I do on her table. And the pins don’t hurt at all. You barely feel them.”
Lindberg said she is “so grateful” to Gordon for the partnership.
Gordon has worked with famous athletes and celebrities and has been featured on television shows like “Good Morning America.”
“I’m so honored to that she has brought TCBF into her space,” Lindberg said. “Seeing Sheila’s dedication to working and supporting people who were at a low point in their life inspired me. It influenced me to find an outlet to do the same and offer support to people who were going through similar things as I.”
The Chloe Belle Foundation currently supports anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer or anyone who is grieving a family member who died of cancer. That could expand in the future, Lindberg said.
People interested in becoming recipients of the foundation can reach out to them through their website, emailing [email protected] or messaging them on Instagram.
Kelly Campbell is a client of Gordon’s who is receiving acupuncture during chemotherapy.
“During my cancer treatments, which have included both chemotherapy and immunotherapy since my diagnosis in August 2022, acupuncture has helped combat my fatigue and nausea,” Campbell said. “It also helped lessen the symptoms of severe ascites, which is fluid in the abdomen that I’m told often shows up in patients with endometrial cancer, which is what my diagnosis is. That was almost immediate. More than once, I went into The Healing Space feeling incredibly uncomfortable, but at the end of the session, I felt real relief. Sheila is an amazing practitioner in that she’s a great listener and great at addressing the issues with which I often am unable to articulate.”
Rori Zura experienced acupuncture during chemotherapy at her treatment center and with Gordon after she beat breast cancer.
“I can confidently say that Sheila’s sessions provided more effective relief and support,” Zura said. “Her expertise and personalized approach significantly enhanced my recovery journey, and I highly recommend her services to anyone seeking complementary therapies for cancer treatment.”
Lindberg had years of success working with high level executives in television and finance but left New York City to return to her hometown of Northport.
“It so great to partner with someone not only so successful but who is a Northport native,” Lindberg said of Gordon.
