2024 Lineup Announced For TTD Summer Concert Series At Norwalk Beach
NORWALK, CT — As the summer season officially gets underway, residents will soon flock to Calf Pasture Beach on a daily basis to enjoy some fun in the sun.
Visitors to the beach on Sunday evenings can enjoy an extra special treat as the Third Taxing District Electric Department presents its 2024 summer concert series, featuring an exciting roster of musical acts.
General Manager Kevin Barber said he and the entire TTD staff were really excited about this year’s lineup.

“All are returning groups,” Barber said, “but some have not performed for us for 5-10 years.”
The concert series is scheduled to open with Old School 203, a new group to last year’s lineup whose performance was so well-received they were asked back this year, according to Barber.

“Memphis Soul Spectacular is a group we are bringing back from 8-10 years ago,” Barber said. “Their lead singer, Rob Jockal, is a real performer who puts his whole heart into it.”
The concerts are held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the “showmobile” at the beach in East Norwalk. There are no rain dates.

According to Barber, planning for the concerts began all the way back in January and includes completing application requirements for the Parks and Recreation Department, securing the services of their sound engineers, negotiating and booking various performers, advertising and other smaller details.
“This is usually completed by June,” Barber said, “and the concerts begin right after the Fourth of July.”
The concert series, a more than 40-year tradition for TTD, has become a summertime staple for both residents of East Norwalk and weekend visitors to the beach.
“Among our electric department ratepayers, we have many regular concert attendees who begin to inquire about the concerts at the first sign of spring,” Barber said. “We also have beachgoers who see the concert going on and bring their chairs over to listen. Residents from all over Norwalk turn out, as well as some from out of town who follow the bands.”
Barber also noted he and Assistant General Manager Ron Scofield are looking forward to another successful concert season this year, during which concertgoers can enjoy a wide variety of music types, from big band to Motown and R&B and soul.
“Let’s hope the weather cooperates,” Barber said.
