Have you ever held public office, whether appointive or elective?

What do you think are the top three issues for Culver City voters in this election, and how do you plan to address them?

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you’d succeed on the council?

Beyond my appointed positions, I have been in the creative field for work over the past 10 years. This has involved being in a position that requires finding creative solutions while also taking many different perspectives into account to find one collaborative resolution, which is something I can bring to council.

I have also been a part of and became the eventual vice president of development for the Culver City Historical Society, providing me with further knowledge, understanding, and appreciation for the Heart of Screenland.

What’s the best advice anyone gave you?

Be yourself and speak up!

Who is someone that inspires you and why?

Lucille Ball. As the first woman to run a major television studio, she broke barriers in the entertainment industry and played a huge role in shaping television and introducing new production techniques. Since her time as a studio head, there have been many female executives leading major studios and she epitomizes a phrase I try to live by: “While you may be the first, make sure you’re not the last.”

Is there anything else you’d like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

As someone who has grown up in Culver City after my parents immigrated here from Mexico, Culver City has been the foundation of everything my family and I cherish. From childhood through adulthood, my journey has been intertwined with a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility to give back to this community that has given so much to us.

I’m running for City Council to ensure that my hometown continues the progress I’ve seen develop over the years and to ensure that everyone has the same opportunities Culver City has provided my family.

When I first ran for City Council, I was the first Latina to do so and if elected I will be the first Latina to serve on the City Council. While I may be the first, I won’t be the last and I want to make sure that others who come after me have the same opportunities I had. I care for my community and don’t plan to seek any higher office beyond the municipality of Culver City. I don’t see Culver City Council as a stepping stone or launching pad. I am not a politician. I am a lifelong resident who is looking to serve the community with genuine heart.

On City Council, I’ll bring my experience, leadership, and lifelong knowledge of Culver City to create solutions for issues that are top of mind for Culver City residents.
