'Hold In Place' Enacted At William Floyd High School: School District

MASTIC BEACH, NY — William Floyd School District officials enacted a “hold-in-place” Tuesday morning at the high school after receiving an anonymous phone call regarding the possible presence of a former student in the building, according to a message sent to parents.

“After an investigation, it was confirmed that this was completely unfounded,” the statement said. “As a precaution, the high school called a hold-in-place, and notified the police department.”

A “hold-in-place” is when students and staff are instructed to remain in their classrooms, and is often used during a medical emergency to ensure the halls are clear for the first responders, according to a district spokesman.
