Joseph DeStefano Wins NYS 3rd AD: BOE
LONG ISLAND, NY — Incumbent Republican Assemb. Joseph DeStefano appears to have the lead in the race for the 3rd Assembly District, against his Democratic challenger, Trina Miles, according to unofficial results from the state Board of Elections.
DeStefano garnered 55.79% with 31, 868 votes, and Miles: 36.10% with 20, 622 votes.
He told Patch that he was humbled by the results of the election and that he is grateful for all the love and support from my family and friends, as well as his friends in law enforcement and his colleagues in organized labor.

“I will work tirelessly to work on common sense legislation that makes New York a safe place and better place to live by also keeping families together,” he said.
DeStefano, of Medford, was elected to office in 2018. In 2022’s election, he garnered 64 percent of the vote, according to Ballotpedia.

Democrat Trina Miles, of Mastic, in the election. Miles’ previous work history reportedly includes Suffolk OTB and the Board of Elections. It is the second time that she is running against DeStefano. In 2022, she lost with 36 percent of the vote, Ballotpedia shows.
Miles was reportedly not actively campaigning.
Communities in the 3rd Assembly District include Brookhaven, Coram, East Patchogue, Farmingville, Fire Island, Gordon Heights, Holtsville, Mastic, Medford, Middle Island, Bellport, North Bellport, North Patchogue, Ridge, Selden, Shirley, and Yaphank.
