York High Harassment Suspect Quit Before Meeting

ELMHURST, IL – A York High School employee who is accused of harassing a co-worker resigned before a disciplinary meeting with school district officials, according to public records.

The 28-year-old Cicero man faces six misdemeanor counts of electronic harassment. He was said to have anonymously sent a female co-worker messages about the exact dresses she was wearing and later photos of his genitalia.

The man was a utility custodian, starting in 2017.

Elmhurst police arrested the man Sept. 27, but informed Elmhurst School District 205 about their investigation three days earlier. Once notified, the district immediately placed the man on paid leave.

The day of his arrest, the man attended a meeting with district officials. In a later email informing him about a planned Oct. 2 meeting, the district said he had refused to answer questions in the earlier session.

“You have the right to not answer our questions,” said Joseph Schumacher, assistant superintendent of human resources. “However, refusal to answer our questions will likely result in discipline, up to and including termination of employment.”

A day before the Oct. 2 meeting, the man turned in his resignation, effective immediately. He thanked officials for their support and guidance throughout his years.

“I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to work at District 205 and contribute to the success of the organization,” he said. “During my time here, I have gained valuable experience and developed important skills that will serve me well in my future endeavors.”

Patch obtained the correspondence through a public records request.

Last week, Patch published a story about the details of the allegations against the man.
