LONG ISLAND, NY — Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a male’s jawbone that was found at Smith Point County Park in Shirley on Monday night, Suffolk police told Patch.
A man and a woman found it near Lot A2 while walking on the beach just before 5 p.m., and they brought the remains to a park attendant working at the beach, according to police.
The county Medical Examiner determined it to be human, and it was taken to the agency’s office for positive identification, police said.
