Joliet Man With Violent Past Faces New Domestic Battery Charges

JOLIET — For the second time in six years, Joliet resident Joseph Stombaugh finds himself facing felony charges of domestic battery. Stombaugh’s latest arrest by the Joliet police took place last week, leading to two new charges.

According to the criminal complaint from Joliet police, Stombaugh grabbed a woman by her body on Dec. 17. Stombaugh’s prior domestic battery conviction came in 2018, when he was accused of harming a different victim. On Aug. 4, 2018, Stombaugh strangled a man, and he grabbed the man about the body, court documents note.
