Darien Comes From Behind To Win Third Straight Boys Volleyball Title

NEWTOWN, CT — The six seniors on the Darien High School boys volleyball team entered Thursday’s Class L title match having never lost in their scholastic careers. By the time the final point was scored, they still remained unbeaten, but did experience a first: Trumbull took them to five sets before succumbing, 3-2, giving the Blue Wave their third consecutive state championship and sixth since 2008.

Game scores were 21-25, 25-19, 28-30, 25-21 and 15-12.

Senior tri-captain Isaac McMullin said, “This has to be the most rewarding, being the first time we’ve ever been to five (sets). It was a fun experience. (Trumbull) is such a good team.”
