On Friday morning, Robertson was arraigned on the second-degree murder charge in Reyes’ death in Fairfax County General District Court and given a Sept. 8 trial date. He remains in police custody.

Authorities have not said what murder weapon was used in Reyes’ death, if the two men knew each other, and what a motive might have been in the attack.

Fairfax City Police responded around 9:21 a.m., on June 10, for the report of a dead body in a strip mall at 9715 Fairfax Blvd. The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office and later identified as Reyes, who had suffered severe blunt trauma to his upper torso.

Police were called to the address by an employee of one of the tenants of the building. The body was found inside a dumpster that serves the multi-tenant shopping center, according to a building tenant.

City detectives identified Robertson as a suspect in Reyes’ death. After obtaining an arrest warrant for second-degree murder, Robertson was arrested Thursday with FCPD’s help.
