EAST WINDSOR, CT — A Glastonbury man turned himself in at East Windsor police headquarters Friday afternoon after learning of a warrant for his arrest in connection with a 2-car collision on Route 5 which killed a newly-elected town official on Nov. 18.

Suresh Kumar Sharma, 83, was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to grant right of way from a private driveway. He was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond, and is slated to appear Feb. 5 in Hartford Superior Court, Lt. Michael Poliquin said.

According to a police report, Sharma was exiting the parking lot at Nonna’s Pizza Restaurant at 140 South Main Street when he pulled his Genesis G80 into the path of a southbound Buick LeSabre operated by Courtney Gaylor, 58.
