Here’s what researchers had to say about pizzerias in the Brick City, which averaged a 4.5 rating on Google and earned Newark a spot at number 58 on the list:
“Newark’s pizza scene is robust, with an East Coast authenticity that rivals nearby NYC, featuring a diverse array of traditional and modern pies.”
Other New Jersey cities that made the cut include Elizabeth (68th), Jersey City (122nd), Camden (175th), Clifton (212th) and Paterson (240th).

Think you’re too far away from one of these cities? Pizzello reported that a survey of 1,000 “pizza lovers” showed the average pizza connoisseur is willing to travel for up to 26 minutes to lay their hands on their most cherished pie.
Garden State residents who are willing to travel for a good pie can always take a trip across the Hudson River, too. New York City pizzerias landed at the top spot in the study, scoring a 4.68 average Google rating.
