Man Rescued From Drowning By Fast-Acting Deputies In Malibu
MALIBU, CA — Four quick-acting deputies earned a commendation from the city of Malibu recently for saving a man from drowning in a stream.
A 911 caller on Feb. 4 reported a person in distress near the Serra Retreat on Serra Road. When deputies arrived, they found a man in the middle of a strong stream that leads to the Malibu Lagoon. He was shouting for help while holding on to brush, according to Malibu Public Safety Director Susan Dueñas.
The deputies approached the stream and sought the assistance from a nearby resident, who provided the deputies with a rope to pull the man out of the stream, Dueñas said.
