“Considering where NNO came from and what it has grown to become is remarkable,” Peskin told Patch via email. “What is even greater is that National Night Out is continuing to grow. We are reaching more and more cities and towns every year and it’s so rewarding for me to see new communities get involved and grow their NNO programs locally.”
The 41st year of the event will involve millions of people from 16,500 communities from all 50 states.
And, Peskin said this year’s event will include events in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and on military bases in Japan and Italy
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and; send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
