Firefighters Battle Boat Blaze At Lindenhurst Marina: FD

WEST BABYLON, NY — Suffolk County firefighters battled a boat blaze at a Lindenhurst marina over the weekend, according to the West Babylon Fire Department.

On Sunday, West Babylon Volunteer Fire Department’s marine unit was called to assist the Lindenhurst Fire Department when a fire broke out on a 30-foot boat docked at Anchorage Yacht Club Marina in Lindenhurst, Suffolk police told Patch.

West Babylon firefighters said that under the unified command of Lindenhurst’s Chief Collins, their marine unit went into suppression operations and the fire was under control with minimal damage to surrounding vessels.

One person was airlifted via Suffolk County helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries while another passenger was not injured, police said.

Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are investigating the cause of the fire, police said.
