Shorewood Woman Pushed Into Garage Wall, Deep Freezer: Prosecutors

SHOREWOOD — Despite efforts by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office of Jim Glasgow to keep 39-year-old Danny Locicero in the Will County Jail following his felony arrest by the Shorewood Police Department, a judge has ordered the New Lenox man’s release.

Locicero was arrested over the weekend, and he was let out of the jail on Monday. Glasgow and his prosecutors charged Locicero with aggravated domestic battery and four counts of domestic battery.

According to their petition to deny Locicero’s pretrial release, the following turn of events led to the New Lenox resident’s arrest in Shorewood last weekend:

On Saturday, around 7:45 p.m., two Shorewood police officers and a sergeant were called to the 1800 block of Moran Drive for domestic violence.

A neighbor saw a man beat and throw a woman against a wall in the garage. The officers found the woman and Locicero in the garage, and she was on the ground “with Danny Locicero standing above her,” the court documents reflect.

Locicero later told one of the officers that “he argued with (her) over infidelity issues (and) the two … tussled in the garage,” court records note.

The officer then interviewed Locicero’s victim and “she stated that she argued with Danny in the garage and he threw her around in the garage,” prosecutors informed the judge. “Danny knocked (her) into the west side wall of the garage and pushed her into the deep freezer.”

Prior to the arrival of th police, the Shorewood woman screamed for help as Lucicero pushed her around, prosecutors noted. Eventually, she grabbed her phone and pressed the number for Lucicero’s mother and dialed it.

“Danny grabbed her cell phone from her as they continued to argue and threw it at the refrigerator, causing the phone to crack,” prosecutors noted. The woman tried to enter her house, “when Danny came up behind her and put his right arm around her neck and pressed against her throat and she could not breathe.”

Will County Judge Donald DeWilkins rejected the prosecution’s petition, ruling that Locicero should be let out of the Will County Jail. The judge found “less restrictive means” for ordering Locicero’s release.

The judge set Locicero’s next pretrial hearing for Sept. 23 in Courtroom 405. Judge DeWilkins also ordred Locicero to stay away from the Shorewood woman and her house on Moran Drive.

Lastly, Locicero was placed on electronic monitoring as a condition of his pretrial release. Jail record list Locicero as living on London Road in New Lenox.
