Search For Son Suspected Of Killing Dad Goes Into 10th Day On Long Island: Police
LONG ISLAND, NY — The search for a Long Island man believed to have fatally stabbed his father went into its 10th day on Monday, Suffolk police said.
Police searched wooded patches along Route 25A and William Floyd Parkway on the North Shore, and a Suffolk police command post was set up just south of 25A last week. The search efforts also included the sheriff’s office, and rangers from the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
A police spokesperson told Patch Monday morning that the search for 23-year-old Matthew Zoll was “ongoing.”

Officers were called to a home on Quail Road in Rocky Point at around 1:25 a.m. on Nov. 9 after a 911 caller reported a stabbing, police said, adding that when officers arrived, they found Joseph Zoll, 61, and he was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Zoll is 6 feet 1 inches tall, weighs 150 lbs, and has brown hair and brown eyes, one of which has a small scar under it. He is not believed to be in a vehicle, police said.
School officials in Shoreham-Wading River advised parents of the police department’s search last week, saying that it would be on and near the campus and announced there would be additional security guards on duty.
