Tolland Town Manager Now Has His Own Bobblehead

TOLLAND, CT — He’s been a high school track star, a cop, a television personality and a town official, but now, Brian Foley has really arrived.

He has a bobblehead. And it fits perfectly in the annals of municipal CEOs and other noticeable folks with unique calling cards.

That’s night … There’s a Brian Foley bobblehead.

The staff at the town manager’s office surprised Foley this week with it as a gift. He quipped that it might be “smarter, not at all balding and much better spoken than the real thing,” but admitted he’s always wanted one.”

They staff videotaped Foley when he opened it.

“It’s a great culture here. I’m very lucky,” Foley said. “This is a really great staff.”

The bobblehead is a pretty good likeness. It currently sits on Foley’s desk. Foley is dressed in the blue checked jacket he calls one of his favorites.

“I’ve always always wanted a bobblehead and here it is … right in front of me, as we speak,” Foley said. “And yeah, I do own that jacket.”

Unlike former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, who carried around casino chip business cards and two showgirls in tow wherever he went, Foley said the bobblehead won’t find its way in his vehicle.

“No … It will stay on my desk,” he said.

We’ll believe him.

Tolland residents can now really stop by the Hicks Center to flick, er pick, Foley’s brain.

Oscar Goodman’s business chip”…

Brian Foley’s bobblehead …

This Christmas wasn’t the first occasion that made Foley a figurehead of attention. The staff dressed up as him for Halloween.

The Foley bobblehead comes just about three weeks after his neighbor down Route 195, University of Connecticut women’s head basketball Geno Auriemma, had his bobblehead unveiled by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of UConn.

One of three Auriemma bobbleheads is positioned next to a highway sign that reads, “Welcome to Connecticut … Home of the Winningest Coach in College Basketball History … Coach Geno Auriemma.” The Auriemma bobblehead is also holding a basketball adorned with the UConn Huskies logo.
