Fake Soldier Left 'Trail Of Tears' After Seducing Dozens Of Women
THE COLONY, TX — A 47-year-old Minnesota man who lied to women about being a pilot, professor, and defense analyst has been sentenced to 24 years in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Joseph Brown announced Wednesday.
Derek Mylan Alldred pleaded guilty on Dec. 21, 2017 to mail fraud and two counts of aggravated identity fraud. He received the maximum sentence.
“This defendant left a trail of tears, emotional devastation, and financial ruin behind him,” Brown said in a statement.
“It is clear that he will never change, and we expect his sentence to reflect that. We are glad we were able to get some level of justice for these women.”
Alldred was also ordered to pay more than $254,000 in restitution.

According to information presented in court, in April 2017 in The Colony, Texas, Alldred began a relationship with a woman he met on a dating website.
Using the name Richard Tailor, he pretended to be a Navy pilot, a Department of Defense analyst, and a professor at Southern Methodist University.
During the relationship, Alldred fraudulently charged more than $12,000 on her credit card, according to authorities.
When the victim became suspicious, she discovered Alldred’s true identity. She filed a police report, and an investigation revealed that at that same time, Alldred was in a relationship with another victim in Dallas.
Alldred would tell one woman he had to go out of town to work as a pilot, and then have the other woman pick him up at the airport, federal officials said.
Alldred stole money from the second victim and committed the same offense across the country, according to authorities. At least 25 victims were located in California, Nevada, Minnesota, and Hawaii, investigators said.
