Chris Jericho Vs. Kenny Omega Confirmed for Double or Nothing
During the ticket announcement party for All Elite Wrestling’s Double
or Nothing event from this past week, a ton of news came out of the
event. Numerous new signings and details about the promotion were
revealed. Fans are still buzzing about what The Elite and Tony Khan will
be bringing to the table and how they will “change the world” when it
comes to typical pro wrestling shows. AEW is set to have its first
official event, Double or Nothing, on May 25th in Las Vegas, Nevada. So
far for the show, it has been confirmed that PAC will face Hangman Page,
the Lucha Bros will take on The Young Bucks, but it appears now that
another monumental bout has just been made official for the event later
on this year.
The party concluded with former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega coming out and confirming that he has signed with All Elite Wrestling. Following a tremendously successful run in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Omega was left with the choice to either sign with AEW or WWE. In the end, not only will he be wrestling for AEW, but he is also an Executive Vice President. Afterwards, Chris Jericho emerged and confronted Omega until they both began to brawl. Ever since that encounter, fans have been waiting for the official announcement that a rematch between Omega and Jericho will be taking place. Sure enough, the match was made official for Double or Nothing during the latest episode of Being the Elite.
Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega is a huge match and will surely be great for the Double or Nothing event. This is the second singles match between Omega and Jericho. The first match between these two Canadian fan-favorites took place during NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event last year, which Omega won. The match was praised by fans with the Wrestling Observer even awarding it a five star rating. There is no word on whether or not the plan is to headline AEW’s first show with Jericho vs. Omega II, but is is a possibility and a match worthy enough of receiving the honor. Fans interested in seeing who will come out of this one as the winner will want to tune in to Double or Nothing when it airs live on May 25th later on this year.
